If anybody wants to prove that the game position is in fact possible they're very welcome to construct a game for our entertainment...
I should mention one of Malc's masterpieces from about ten years ago from 'Chess' Magazine. A whole row was missing - either White or Black's first - meaning the board was 7 by 8, therefore one side had about five pieces missing, including his king.
