Burning question

Who said it?
Why not sacrifice? - if it is correct. But bridges I don't burn, it's not my speciality.

Incidentally Rybka demonstrates that the TN I claimed to have discovered over the weekend is a real crock, so there won't be any postings on that one...

Less burning bridges than pulling up drawbridges, I'd have said.

It was of course Anatoly Karpov, in an old interview of which I would give more details had I them to hand.

Incidentally I should add that the highlight of my otherwise dismal chess weekend was Andrew's impersonation of Russians who don't do postmortems.
