Chess on Sunday?

"The Surrey Under 175 team are short of 4 or 5 players for a match this Sunday near Leicester and versus Yorkshire," emails Robin Haldane.

"I was wondering if you wanted to put something on the blog asking anyone to contact Ray Ryan if they fancy playing."

... and there you go.

Alas myself, I'm off to a birthday barbecue in Blackheath.

But don't let that stop you.

Didn't know you've grown a moustache Tom! Also why are you BBQing melons? Can't play either as I'm 10 points too high, my allegiences lie with Middlesex (yes I know they haven't got a team atm) and am visiting Auntie Rosemary on Sunday before her move to Southampton.

Is she replacing Gareth Bale for the Saints then?

No she plays as a goalkeeper

If anyone can play - and we are still a few short - I can offer a lift from Streatham or from somewhere on the way... I notice the venue (http://www.systonsocial.co.uk/) has been nominated for CAMRA Club of the Year 2007: What more incentive to play, do you need?

Angus.

I recall from previous visits that Tom's more of a pizza man!

I also can't play as I still play for Hertfordshire (U150s), who are playing Nottinghamshire in the national semis next weekend (wish us luck!). I'm not going to see Andrew's Auntie Rosemary though.
