White to Play and Win

Tom lent me a book on tactics last week. I thought this position, a study by one H. Rinck from 1928, was cute.

Have a good weekend everybody.

Doesn't take long especially if you work out the desired move- then make it happen.

Andrew,

I agree it's not the toughest puzzle we've ever published - though I suspect it took me longer than it took you. Still, I like the way the two key themes combine.

Tough enough if you were under the impression a standard puzzle convention was being followed....

Was I seeing things or was Geek Overdrive 2 (this time it's personal)up earlier and now is gone?

Quite likely: we often prepare posts in advance so if somebody actually presses "publish" rather than "save" this can happen!

Think of it as a trailer, or one of those preview clips that go round the internet.

Yes it was up briefly on two occasions but for no more than about a minute on each time. You must have come along just at the right time.

I was having trouble with the links and wanted to make sure they worked.

You can test links more easily via the 'Preview' button Jonathan. Also the October 2006 archive is for testing out posts, if you did want to 'publish before publishing' so to speak.
